12 acres of cultivable Panchyati land evicted of illegal occupation: Aashika Jain

Nabaz-e-Punjab Bureau, SAS Nagar, June 10:
The well coordinated efforts of the District Administration especially the District Rural Development Department, Revenue Department and police, has lead to the eviction of illegal occupation from 57 bighe and 16 biswe (approximately 12 acres) of cultivable land of Gram Panchayat Samgauli, Dera Bassi, informed Madam Aashika Jain, Additional Deputy Commissioner SAS Nagar today.
Giving details, ADC Madam informed that Panchyati Land of Gram Panchayat Samgauli was unlawfully occupied by multiple people. The illegal possession persisted for years. The Panchyat had filed eviction petition before the DDPO who gave the decision in favour of Gram Panchayat. But the illegal occupants moved to Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court which granted a stay in the matter.
Finally, with persistent efforts the stay was vacated and the warrant of possession has been successfully implemented in favour of Gram Panchayat Samgauli. The land is rid of all illegal occupants and has been handed over to the Gram Panchayat which can now be duly utilized for common purposes.
