CGC Jhanjeri Won at Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2017

More than 2000 Colleges & Universities from across India participated

The Computer Science & Engineering students of Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri brought laurels to the institute by excelling in the grand finale of Smart India Hackathon – 2017 held at GIMT, Guwahati. In this event more than 10,000 young innovators picked up from engineering & management students from across India worked to create innovative solutions in the form of mobile & computer applications addressing social or educational issues. These students were selected from among 42000 students from 2183 engineering & management colleges & Universities from across India. Their creative energy was harnessed to solve 598 serious problem statements shared by 29 ministries & departments with HRD ministry. Out of a total of 7531 ideas received for these 598 problems, 1266 were shortlisted for the Grand Finale.
The ministry of MDoNER identified 11 problems on which 31 teams (6 students & 2 mentors per team) shortlisted by the Ministry built innovative digital solutions at GIMT, Guwahati. The Team TER-X from CGC Jhanjeri won 2nd position for their innovation Geotracking locations of Hospitals and Blood Banks with real time database of availability of Blood. The team under the leadership of Komal Chauhan, a 4th semester CSE student, got a Winner Trophy along with certificates, medals cash prize of Rs. 50,000/-.While honoring the winner team Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC said that the management gives full financial & moral support to all the students for their innovations & projects.
