CGC Jhanjeri Girls lift trophy of PTU’s Badminton Championship

Nabaz-e-Punjab Bureau, Mohali, 11 October:
The girls of Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri brought laurels to the region in sports by winning PTU’s Inter College Badminton Tournament for Women. A number of colleges participated in this Tournament at DAVIET, Jalandhar. In the first round, CGC Jhanjeri girls made a clean sweep by beating Sachdeva Girls College by 3-0 as well as CCP Landran again by 3-0. CGC Jhanjeri won semifinal match by defeating CEC Landran by 3-0. The finals was played by them against the last two years champions DAVIET Jalandhar, which CGC Jhanjeri girls won by 2-1. With this CGC Jhanjeri won prestigious trophy for the year 2017-18. The team included Shikha Sharma, Abhima Sharma, Resu & Shivani Singh. Shikha Sharma, Abhima Sharma & Shivani Singh are also selected in PTU’s Badminton Team for playing Inter University Tournament.
Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC conveyed his congratulations to the winners & their coach, Kamaljeet Singh Gill. Dr. G.D.Bansal, Director General said that there is a distinct improvement in the performance of these girls as last year they had won Silver. He informed that the Boys Badminton Team had also given an excellent performance & two of Jhanjeri students, Piyush Sharma and Jogeshwar have been selected in PTU’s Team for playing Inter University Badminton Tournament for Men.
