Fake T20 scandal: BCCI two-member team visits Mohali

A team of the Anti-Corruption Unit of BCCI comprising two members today visited Mohali for questioning kingpin bookie, Ravinder Dandiwal, who was arrested yesterday for hosting fake Sri Lankan T20 league match in village Swara here. The team headed by Alok Kumar, in-charge of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Anti-Corruption Unit, investigated the cricket matche scandals, in which Dandiwal was involved for the past few years.
Mohali Superintendent of Police (Rural) Ravjot Kaur Grewal said, “Two members from the BCCI team visited Sadar Kharar police station and questioned Dandiwal. He confirmed his involvement in organising the cricket matches in the countries of Australia, Dubai, Afganistan, Sri Lanka etc in the past five years.”
It was said that various bookies took part in these matches.
“As a governing body of cricket, the team conducted the probe on game angle. We are now investigating all the angles revolving around the case. The statements of players, who took part in the match played at Sawara village, will be recorded for getting more details. More persons can be arrested in coming days as per their involvement with the accused,” said the SP.
Yesterday, Mohali police today had arrested kingpin Ravinder Dandiwal, who is allegedly involved in the international match-fixing scandal, along with two other accused for recently hosting fake Sri Lankan T20 league games in village Swara in the district.
The accused Daniwal, Pankaj Kumar Arora and Rajesh Garh alias Raju had booked the ground of stoker cricket academy in swara village from June 29 to July 5 for Rs 33,000 and formed 4 teams for organising a cricket series named UVA-T20-Premier League. The said league was held in swara village but was shown as being held in Sri Lanka and relayed on various social media apps.
A case was registered under Sections 420, 120-B of the IPC, 13A-3-67 of the Gambling Act at the Sadar Kharar police station.
