Nabaz-e-Punjab, Mohali, August 11:
The police teams of three police stations are yet to arrest the two unidentified miscreants, who snatched three vehicles including two cars yesterday at gunpoint from the areas of Mohali and Ropar.
On Monday daylight, two masked men snatched a bike, a sedan and a SUV, one after the other, within 50 minutes. The police are still groping in dark to trace the miscreants after 24 hours of these major incidents.
Firstly, the miscreants stopped a Splendor Pro bike (PB 65-P-6908), driven by Nadeem Ahmed, a resident of Lakhnaur village near Kurali, near his village around 2 pm. They threatened the victim and snatched his bike by pushing him down and sped away from the spot.
After a few minutes, they left the bike and snatched a Dzire car (HR 99-ABY-8303) at gunpoint near a liquor vend of Charheri village on Kurali-Ropar bypass road from Pardeep Kumar, a resident of Phase 7 here.
Later, the miscreants headed towards Ropar on the Dzire and on reaching under Bheora village bridge, they snatched a Toyota Fortuner in the same style from Ramandeep Singh, a resident of Ghandoli village, around 2.50 pm. They took the SUV towards the village roads to avoid the toll plaza on the highway. On reaching Bindrakh road near a river, they dropped the SUV and fled from the spot.
On getting the information of all the snatched vehicles by the police of Sadar Kurali, City Kurali and Sadar Rupnagar, the vehicles were recovered by the cops. Three separate cases under Sections 392, 411, 382, 34 of the IPC and 25, 27-54-59 of the Arms Act have been registered by these police stations against the suspects.
Inspector Baljeet Singh, Station House Officer of Sadar Kurali police station, said, “One of the miscreants was wearing a mask while the face of the other was covered by a cloth.”
DSP Mullanpur, Amroj Singh said, “The police teams are scrutinizing the footage of CCTV cameras to trace the suspects. We have got reliable clues and we are hoping to arrest them soon.”
As per the Ropar police, the call dump of the crime spots has also been lifted and the investigation is on to trace the suspects.
