STF One held with 260 gm heroin and a 9mm pistol

Nabaz-e-Punjab, Mohali, October 6:
The STF (Special Task Force) unit of Mohali police arrested a man for possessing 260 gram heroin from Phase 2 here on Monday. The police also recovered a 9mm pistol along with nine live cartridges from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Dheeraj Sharma alias Sunny, a resident of Phase 2 in Mohali.
The police had set up a blockade near T-point of Gurdwara Sahibzada Ajit Singh, Phase 2 to conduct checking of vehicles. In the meantime, the accused was stopped by the cops when he was coming from Gurdwara side in his Bolero. On checking, Sub Inspector Avtar Singh along with his team recovered 260 gram drug, a 9mm pistol and nine live cartridges from the vehicle following which Sunny was arrested.
A case has been registered against him under Sections 21A-61-85 of the NDPS Act and 25-54-59 of the Arms Act at the STF police station in Phase 4 here.
The accused was produced before a local court today which sent him to two-day police remand.
During the interrogation of the accused, it came to fore that Sunny used to purchase the drug from Delhi at lower price and sell it in the areas of Mohali at higher price, said the police.
According to the police, further investigation of the accused was going on to check from where he had purchased the weapon. The police also added that four cases have already been registered against the accused in the past.
