Man died on the open illegal lift of a warehouse, owner booked

A 24-year-old labourer died on the lift of a Romsons Warehouse in Industrial Area Phase 8-B here last night after an iron rod got inserted into his neck.
The victim has been identified as Abhisek, a resident of Jagatpura village here. Abhisek had was working as a labourer in the medicine warehouse for last three months. The police have registered a case of culpable homicide against the warehouse owner, Vibhag Sethi, in this regard.
According to the police, the incident was occurred around 6 pm on Wednesday when the victim was going towards third (top) floor of the warehouse in a lift, which is open and has no boundaries. Also there is no proper space outside the lift due to which an iron rod of the building got inserted into the neck of Abhishek near his ear, when he was looking outside the lift. After the incident, Abhisek sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a private hospital in Sohana by the cops, where doctors declared him brought dead.
However, the police said that there are two lifts in the warehouse, one for the use of workers, other for the use of goods only. The victim used the open lift, made for transporting goods, despite his manager warning.
Inspector Manphul Singh, Station House Officer of Phase 1 police station said, “The victim used the wrong lift due to which he met with the accident.”
ASI Avtar Singh, Industrial Area Phase 8 police post in-charge said, “It was learnt that the open lift of the warehouse was constructed illegally and has no boundaries for protection. We have registered a case under Section 304 of the IPC against the owner at the Phase 1 police station. The accused will be arrested soon. The post mortem of the victim was conducted today and the body was handed over to the family members.” The victim is survived by his parents and two siblings.
