Suspect of firing incident in Lohgarh arrested by police

The suspect is a henchman of Haryana’s topi gang

The district police have arrested the suspect, who fired multiple gunshots in Lohgarh park and injured a man in July this year. The suspect was on run since the incident took place.
The suspect has been identified as Vivek Bhardwaj, a resident of Omaxe city, Phase-1, Palwal (Haryana) and is henchman of famous Topi gang of Haryana, led by Amarjeet Singh Topi of Pehowa.
The police have also recovered a .315 country made pistol, one live cartridge and some banned intoxicants from his possession.
DSP, Zirakpur Amroz Singh informed that, the police received a tip-off that Vivek Bhadwaj was coming to Zirakpur to supply drugs to his customers. Acting on it, a blockade was laid near the traffic lights of Chhat village by SI Hardeep Singh and his team and Vivek was nabbed there when he was walking towards the Airport road. On frisking, the cops recovered 12 injections of buprenorphine along with 12 glass bottles of pheniramine maleate from his possession.
A fresh case under Sections 22-61-85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against him at the Zirakpur police station.
On November 22, Vivek was produced in the local court which sent him to five-day police remand.
On July 4 this year, Vivek fired around five gunshots on Harpreet Singh, a resident of Lohagarh following which he had sustained leg injuries. A case under Sections 307, 506, 34 of the IPC and 25, 27-54-59 of the Arms Act was registered against him at the Zirakpur police station in this regard.
DSP Amroj Singh also added that during interrogation, it came to the fore that Vivek is history sheeter and an active member of Haryana’s Topi gang. There are several cases of heinous crime registered against him in different police stations of Haryana.
Firing incident in Lohgarh:
On July 4 evening, Harpreet was going on his bike when three girls and a boy were coming out of a park. One of the girls just escaped being hit by the bike and abused him. When he enquired about the reason, she started arguing with him and soon called up her acquaintances to the spot. Her acquaintances came in a car and one of them fired two shots from inside the vehicle before coming out of it and firing thrice. Harpreet was hit in the left leg.
