Nabaz-e-Punjab, Delhi, January 5:
A painter from Punjab and a daughter of Kargil war martyr from Haryana along with other farmers today joined the protest against the controversial three agriculture laws passed by the central government, at the Tikri border here. The protesters chanted various slogans like “no farmers no future”and “revoke the anti farmer ordinances”at the protest, set-up under a tent here.
Bhajan, a painter by profession since 1988 from Makhu in Punjab, wore special uniform on which slogans were written against the central government. Bhajan also put some of his arts in the display to explain the alleged strategy of the agriculture laws and its affects to the people. He also recited various poems in Punjabi to express his feelings on the behalf of the farmers. “I am just a painter and nothing to do with the farming. I hardly earns the livelihood for my family. But at this crucial stage, I stand with the ‘anndatas’ of my country, who are fighting for their rights. The prime minister Modi, who is a puppet in the hands of Adani and Ambani, is all set to break the backbone of common people through these laws,” said Bhajan.
He added that the trick played by the central government to call the farmers as ‘terrorists’ has been failed now. “I often remains active in the protest and festivals of the farmers. In addition to this, I paints trolleys of the farmers with arts and messages,” added Bhajan, who also had joined a protest at the Singhu border.
On the other side, Priya Grewal of Bhiwani in Haryana, who is a daughter of Kargil war martyr, also joined the same protest here. “Being a daughter of a martyr and a farmer, I am supporting the farmers and feeling lucky to serve them. I had been supporting the Indian farmers throughout Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. Now, I am managing this historical protest while looking after my children,” said Priya Grewal.
She added the central government should listen to the problems of the farmers as they are protesting peacefully amid the rainy season and are facing the tough time. She appealed to the government to repeal the three agriculture laws at the earliest.
Meanwhile, a 85-year-old farmer, Bhoora Singh of Sangrur district, was also present there, who owns 8 acres of land. Bhoora Singh said, “I come here alone from my entire family. I am ready to die for our rights as I hardly sees any future for my children if these laws are not repealed.”
