As per the police, the club was operating on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday despite the curfew imposed in the district. The police team including DSP Deep Kamal and Inspector Jagdeep Brar raided the club at around 2.30 am on Saturday night and arrested around 30 persons from the spot. However, the club owner, identified as Sajan Mahajan, fled from the spot when the cops raided there. The police also impounded around six vehicles of the customers, who had come there for the party. Inspector Jagdeep Singh Brar, Station House Officer of Phase 11 police station said that they received a tip-off at around 2.15 am that a night party was being organized at the Walking Street. “On getting the information, our team raided the club and found that the club was operating from the backdoor. The main gate was closed and a small backdoor was opened for the entry of youths. On seeing the cops, the owner fled from the spot. Around 30 persons, who were present inside the club, were arrested.” DSP Deep Kamal said, “Despite the curfew imposed in the district, there was a large gathering inside the club and that too beyond the permissible limits. Liquor and hooka were also being served inside the club. Out of 30 held persons, 28 are boys. The club owner will also be arrested soon.” A case has been registered against the suspects under Sections 188 of the IPC and 269, 270 of the Disaster Management Act at the Phase 11 police station.
