Sukhbir Badal should stop politicizing COVID Care Centers being setup by the SGPC: Bir Davinder Singh

Senior leader of Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) and former deputy speaker of Punjab legislative assembly, Bir Davinder Singh on Monday again slammed SAD president Sukhbir Badal. He said that Badal was politicizing COVID Care Centers being setup by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).
Bir Davinder said, “Whereas I wholeheartedly appreciate the endeavors of the SGPC for opening COVID Care Centers at different places for the suffering humanity, during COVID pandemic; but the politicization of the solemn occasion, despoils the intended ideas. The blatant misuse of the occasion by Sukhbir Badal for political purposes, which is funded by the SGPC, is highly deplorable.”
“It does not look pleasant to misuse the devastating tragedies of COVID pandemic to revive the lost credibility of his party and seriously faded image of the Badal family; it certainly insults the noble objectives of a good cause. The outrageous ceremonial appearance of Sukhbir Badal on each of the occasion of the openings of the COVID care Centers by the SGPC, incurring huge expenses out of ‘Guru’s Bursary (Golak)’, agonizes the general Public; it rather appears politically unwise and ethically deficient of sagaciousness,” he added.
The former deputy speaker also said that one would not mind the presence of Badal on the opening of COVID Care Centers by the SGPC, if he himself had contributed some significant amount from his own pocket to finance such endeavors of the SGPC.
“Bibi Jagir Kaur, President of the SGPC, should be conscious of such debaucheries, which bring disgrace to the institution of SGPC,” said SAD (Sanyukt) leader while questioning that “Why not the Head Priest of Sri Akal Takhat , Amritsar, Giani Harpreet Singh and other Priests of the Sikh Takhtas or Panj Payaras, inaugurates such missionary facilities by praying and performing Ardas on the occasion, for the wellbeing of the suffering human beings?”
