A walk against blindness; Walkathon May 2023

Nabaz-e-Punjab Bureau, 14 May:
On the occasion of 1st year anniversary of merger of JP Eye Hospital and Dr. Agarwals Eye hospitals, JP eye Hospital organised a 5 km of A WALK AGAINST BLINDNESS on 14th May, 2023 at 6 am to spread the awareness of Eye Donation.
Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar (IPS, IGP, Commissioner, Punjab Police), Mrs. Aashika Jain (IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Mohali), Himanshu Jain (Additional Principal Secretary CM) and famous Punjabi Film stars Mr. Jaswinder Bhalla and Mrs. Gurvinder Kaur flagged off the Walkathon at 6:30 am in which more than 600 participants took part with full enthusiasm. Children from Blind school, sector 26, chandigarh; paraplegics on wheel chair led the walk which was followed by the participants from whole of Tricity of various age groups from 6 years to 80 years of age from various organisations like Government College Phase- 6 Mohali, Ratan Proffesional college of Nursing Sector-79, Mohali, Bharath Vikas Parishad Mohali, Continental Engineering and Power pvt ltd Mohali, Private schools of the city and general public by and large.
Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar- IGP, Commissioner of Police appreciated the active participation by General Public and stressed the need of Eye Donation to allieviate blindness from the society.
Today being Mother’s Day, Mrs. Aashika Jain, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Mohali appreciated this initiative by JP Eye Hospital and Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital in spreading the awareness of Eye Donation on this particular day and suggested to keep on doing such awareness programmes and ensured to provide any administrative help for this noble cause.
Mr. Jaswinder Bhalla was highly thankful to JP Eye Hospital for inviting him for this initiative of Eye Donation and lauded the active participation by the children of Blind school and Wheel chair organisations.
Prof Dr. Amar Agarwal, Chairman- Dr. Agarwals Healthcare ltd stressed the need of eye donation in reality. Many people pledge their eyes but in case of their demise, the main purpose of eye donation is defeated. So it is my humble request that
EVERY CITIZEN OF INDIA MUST ENSURE DONATION OF THEIR EYES AFTER THEIR DEATH.
Dr. Jatinder Singh, Medical director of Mohali unit assured to continue with this campaign of Eye Donation for eradicating Corneal Blindness and being Mother’s Day announced that there will be a free eye consultation at JP Eye Hospital for all Mothers of Tricity till 31st May.

Dr. Gaurav Arora, Regional Head- Clinical Services (Punjab region), Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospitals reiterated the need of awareness of Eye donation in this part of country.

All participants were honoured with Medals, Certificates and refreshments along with “Vision is Life” Coupons with which free consultation could be redeemed at JP Eye hospital for upto 4 of their family members/ friends was provided after the Walkathon.
