For the purpose, ‘Kisan Nyay Sammelan’ and signature campaigns in all the states will be initiated by the party. In a press statement, AAP Punjab Co-President, Aman Arora said that AAP had organized a one day protest at the district headquarters of different States on 10th, 12th and 16th June , 2017 against the killing of debt ridden farmers. This was carried out in 111 districts of 15 States all over India. The AAP units had submitted memorandum to the district authorities demanding immediate waiver of loan, fixation of MSP with 50% profit over the cost of production and implementation of Swaminathan Commission Report as promised by BJP before the 2014 Parliamentary Elections. Aman Arora said that “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan” slogan is decimated now by BJP through its sinister act of killing of the farmers in Madhya Pradesh. AAP will take up farmers’ fight and would like farmers to win this battle. He said that as per NCRB Report, in last 21 years, 3,15,000 farmers have committed suicide. The economic survey 2016 says that average income of a farmer in 17 States is Rs.20000/- per annum i.e. around Rs.1700/ per month. Arora said that Narender Modi had announced in all the States before 2014 elections that they will give 50% profit, but betrayed the farmers after formation of government. The present Central Government has submitted an affidavit in the Supreme Court that the Swaminathan Report can’t be implemented as it would lead to inflation in the country. He said that those who owe the nation rupees 9000 crores, were allowed to flee abroad but farmers are being killed by the government. He demanded that Swaminathan report should be implemented in the all states of India. Arora said that Farmers’ loans should be waived off in all the States of India. He demanded that the Central Government should make public as to where the 75% money collected as premium in the name of crop insurance has gone, as only 25% of the money has been used in settling the claims.
