AAP MLAs arrested mid-way, stopped from protesting at Siswan

Protested against Dharamsot’s clean chit and farm bills

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab’s senior leader and leader of opposition, Harpal Singh Cheema led a protest of AAP MLAs at Siswan farmhouse. However, the district police stopped them at New Chandigarh T-point and did not allow them to protest at Siswan. Harpal Singh Cheema and AAP MLAs started their protest at the T-point and tried to break the barricade at which point they were arrested forcefully and taken to Mullanpur police station. After detaining them for an hour, they were later released. Along with Harpal Singh Cheema, Principal Budhram, Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Prof. Baljinder Kaur, Master Baldev Singh Jaito, Manjit Singh Bilaspur, Sarvjeet Kaur Manuke, Kulwant Singh Pandori, Meet Hayer, Rupinder Kaur Ruby and State General Secretary Harchand Singh Barsat were also detained.
Addressing the media during the protest Harpal Singh Cheema said that just like Narendra Modi, Amarinder Singh has also become another Hitler who is stifling he voices of the opposition.
Harpal Singh Cheema said that by giving a clean chit to a corrupt minister who siphoned off Rs. 64 crores meant for poor Dalit students, Amarinder Singh has betrayed the Dalit students of the state. He alleged that a big part of this money reaches Amarinder Singh’s royal farmhouse and that he needs to wake-up and suspend Dharamsot and arrest him.
Harpal Singh Cheema further added that power has corrupted the government because of which they are neither able to hear the voices of the farmers or the Dalit students.
Cheema also added that a special session with all the stakeholders, including farmer unions and farm experts needs to be called immediately to oppose the farm bills.
Cheema also said that coming under Modi’s pressure and hiding behind the garb of Corona, Captain Amarinder Singh is trying to torpedo the protests of the farmers on one side and on the other he is giving clean chit to corrupt politicians and strengthening Mafia raj.
