Agriculture Ordinances: Farmers surround Reliance petrol pump near Bhagomajra

Farmers’ anger is mounting against the central government for passing three ordinances related to the anti-farmer agriculture sector. On Sunday, the farmers of the district rose above factionalism and staged a protest by laying siege to the Reliance petrol pump near Bhagomajra village on Landran-Banur road. Leaders of various farmers ‘organizations chanted slogans of farmers’ unity. Meanwhile, farmers of the area have been sitting on a dharna on the railway tracks near village Badala for the last few days. Also, General Secretary of Peripheral Milkmen Union Chandigarh-Mohali, Baljinder Singh Bhagomajra along with his colleagues announced their support to the farmers’ struggle.
Davinder Singh Dehkalan, Jaspal Singh Niamiyan, Gurnam Singh Dao, Jarnail Singh Landran, Nachhatar Singh Baidwan (Sohana), and Harsimran Singh Binny, Youth Leader said that the implementation of the black Agriculture Act has exposed the anti-farmer face of BJP. They said that the central government wanted to sell farmers to corporate houses by not giving the right price to the farmers. He said that the farmers of Punjab were fulfilling 70 to 80 percent of the food requirement of the country but on the other hand, the rulers were trying to evict the farmers. The farmers demanded that the agriculture laws be repealed at any cost.
Narinder Singh Premgarh, Kulwinder Singh Baidwan, Shalindarjit Singh Ghoga, Darshan Singh Durali, Bhajan Singh Bhagat Ram Sarpanch Seneta, Jaspreet Singh Raipur, Inderjit Singh Sarpanch Mamupur, Sudesh Kumar Sarpanch Baronpur, Avtar Singh Sarpanch Bhagomajra, Ram Ishwar Gobindgarh, and Harinder Singh were also present on the occasion. Other farmers of the area including Mangat Singh Sarpanch, Kushaldeep Singh Sarpanch Manakmajra, Gulzar Singh Dhelpur, and Gurpreet Singh Sarpanch Khanpur Bangar, Manpreet Singh Tony, Dalbir Singh Manakmajra, and Harinder Singh Baronpur were present.
