As a result, all kinds of business came down in terms of revenue and the revenue of the state government also went down. Businesses are still not on track after the lockdown, but the Punjab government has not allowed development to stagnate. These views were expressed by the Punjab Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Labour, Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu while interacting with the locals while inaugurating the development works of the village Mauli Baidwan at a cost of Rs. 35 lakhs. The Health and Family Welfare Minister said that in order to beautify the village, a plan was drawn up to fill the unusable old ponds in the village and subsequently develop them as parks. Under which earth filling of a pond of the village has already been completed and a park is being set up there. Similarly, the work of the second pond is almost complete. It is being fenced off at a cost of about Rs. 17.50 lakhs. Thereafter, plants and good quality grass will be planted. Swings for children, open gym and benches for the elderly will also be installed. On this occasion, Mr. Sidhu also inaugurated the Valmik Dharamshala constructed at a cost of Rs. 7.50 lakh in the village. Later, the Health and Family Welfare Minister inaugurated the newly strengthened village intersection and the general Dharamsala constructed in the village at a cost of Rs. 10.00 lakhs. Mr. Sidhu said that under MGNREGA scheme four cattle sheds have been constructed and approval has been given to strengthen the construction of about 18 kaccha houses of the village; infact work of one house has already been completed. In order to maintain cleanliness in the village, the Health Minister also provided 150 dustbins to the village panchyat. He said that so far more than Rs.1 crore has been spent on the development works of the village. Mr. Sidhu said that the government would not allow any stagnation in the development works. He said crores of rupees were given to various villages for upgrading schools and constructing bigger buildings. Mobile phones are being provided to children to enable them to learn online. Mr. Sidhu said that despite the fall in the revenue of the government, no reduction was made in the salaries, pensions of the employees and the ration to the needy. Later, Mr. Sidhu appealed to the people to ensure that the guidelines issued by the government from time to time were followed to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
