Rasaal Singh dismissed for embezzlement of Govt. grants of Rs. 50 Lacs: Anuraag Verma Directed the SSP Tarntaran to take strict action as per law after registering FIR Panchayati Raj Department Punjab will take strict action against the persons going against the rights of Panchayat Nabaz-e-Punjab Bureau, SAS Nagar, 17 September: Block Development Panchayat Officer Block Gandiwind District Tarantaran Sh. Rasaal Singh has been dismissed from his service by Rural Development & Panchayat Minister Sr. Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa for embezzlement of govt. funds worth Rs. 50 lacs. In this regard, SSP Tarantaran has been directed to take strict action as per law after registering FIR against him. In this context, Secretary Rural Development & Panchayat Department Punjab, Sh. Anuraag Verma said here his office at Mohali said that an inquiry was conducted against BDPO after issuing charge sheet. After that, from the inquiry thus conducted, it was found that the concerned BDPO has not followed proper procedure for work of providing and fixing Hand Pumps under his jurisdiction. As the officer concerned has neither called any tender for the said work nor he has issued any work order for the work. Moreover, not a single agreement pertaining to the work was signed by him. Besides this the work bill was also not enetered in any measurement book. As such, the inquiry officer has found the accused guilty for embezzlement of funds amounting to Rs. 48.37 lacs. Sh. Verma said that similarly for the work amounting to Rs. 14.50 lacs for installation of solar lights in villages under the block falling within jurisdiction of said officer, upon inquiry it was found that BDPO has not followed proper procedure for execution and also not entered the bill for the work in measurement book. Besides this the BDPO in connivance with another person named Mukhtiar Singh was also found guilty for embezzlement of fund amounting to Rs. 14, 06, 500/- for the construction of Toilets. As per inquiry report submitted by the inquiry officer, the accused BDPO has not followed procedure properly and not a single bill pertaining to the said work was produced by the accused. Inquiry officer has proved that charges against accused are true and he is declared guilty. Sh. Verma said that Panchayati Raj Department is committed for taking strict action against persons violating or going against the rights of Panchayats.
