The Aam Aadmi Party has strongly reacted to Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s statement regarding law and order in Punjab. AAP Punjab’s chief spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang countered the Defense Minister’s statement saying that Rajnath Singh is worried about Punjab but oblivious to the situation in Manipur.

In a statement issued from the party headquarters on Saturday, Malvinder Kang said that Rajnath Singh should focus on controlling the volatile situation and violence in Manipur before making a statement on the law and order situation in Punjab.

Kang said that violence is widespread in Manipur, people are losing lives. Hundreds of people have died so far and thousands have become homeless, but the BJP’s central minister is doing politics to defame the non-BJP ruled states.

Advising the BJP leaders, Kang said that right now a state of our country is burning, but instead of extinguishing that fire, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has gone on a foreign tour for his personal publicity. At the same time, the Home Minister of the country is holding election rallies and the rest of the ministers are busy criticizing the opposition parties. While looking at the current situation in Manipur, all cabinet ministers including the Prime Minister should have focused their attention on stopping the violence in Manipur.

Malvinder Kang said that BJP and Modi ji have started hurting the dignity and respect of constitutional institutions. In non-BJP states, the governor openly speaks against the elected government and interferes. Citing the example of Punjab, Kang said that the Governor of Punjab is openly siding with Haryana for share in Punjab University and denied the decisions of the cabinet in Punjab many times. To call a session, we have to go to the Supreme Court, what could be more unfortunate, asked Kang.

Kang said that either somebody misled Rajnath ji or he deliberately gave wrong statements in the matter of Punjab. He said that Punjab is the most peaceful state in the country, where brotherhood is strong. So, such irresponsible statement from a leader like Rajnath Singh is totally unacceptable.

Kang said that incidents like murder, rape, hooliganism are happening every day in Delhi where the central government (BJP) has control over the police, why Rajnath does not speak anything on these incidents. He said that our Olympic players have been protesting for many days and a member of Parliament of BJP has been accused of sexual harassment. No action has been taken on him yet, why is Rajnath silent on that issue.
