Divulging into details, he said that huge demand for door to door delivery of groceries in wake nation-wide lockdown was a challenging task as the local Karyana Stores/neighbourhood shops did not have ample manpower to deliver groceries at the peoples’ doorstep. So, the district administration permitted big retailers to operate in the district. As a result nearly 9500 orders have been catered by the big retail stores namely Big Basket, Dmart, Bhejo, More, Reliance, Big Bazar, Grofers etc in past four days. Similarly, the district administration in collaboration with Mohali Industry Association, started a Priority Delivery Service of essentials to the senior citizens of the district. It was realized that age and health factors of senior citizens mandated urgent delivery of essentials to them, so this initiative was undertaken. This initiative is also being well received by the senior citizens and so far 332 priority deliveries have been made to them as per orders placed by them on the area wise designated numbers.
