Technical Education Minister cancels leave requests received on telephone during checking

The Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has issued strict instructions to make the government officers and employees accountable to the people. Acting on these instructions, the Technical Education and Industrial Training Minister, Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi conducted surprise checking at the technical education and industrial training directorate and head office here today.
At 9.15 am, Technical Education Minister reached the head office situated in Sector 36, with his personal staff. He stood at the main entrance of the office and waited for the employees till 10:00 am. After this the personal staff of the minister staff collected and examined the attendance registers of all the branches in the presence of the Minister.
Talking to the some media persons after the surprise check, the Technical Education Minister said that the Punjab Government is working with utmost sincerity to provide job oriented technical education to the youth of the state. He said that any officer/employee not performing his or her duty properly or showing laxity towards work would not be spared. The minister also cancelled the leave requests received on phone, as these were submitted only when the absent employees heard about the surprise checking and they called their colleagues on phone to submit their leave applications.

Mr. Chander Gaind, Secretary Technical Education and Industrial Training Board, Punjab was found absent today during the surprise check. He reached the office after 10.00 am after being informed by his staff about the checking. The minister said that would write to the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for necessary action regarding this.
During the checking conducted today, 8 officers and employees of the Board and 19 officers and employees of Technical Education and Industrial Training Directorate were found absent. The officers and employees of Technical Education and Industrial Training Directorate who were found absent, includes Amarjeet Singh Deputy Director Machinery Branch, Maninder Pal Singh Superintendent SDI Branch, Rakes Kumar Superintendent E-Governance Branch, Hardeep Singh Technician Scholarship Branch, Ruchika Sr. Assistant Machinery Branch, Sanjeev Kumar Sr. Assistant Trainings-2 Branch, Navdeep Gill Assistant Legal Branch, Mrs. Usha Atwal Jr. Assistant Audit, Branch-2, Harpreet Kaur Steno typist Legal Branch, Suresh Pal Jr. Scale Stenographer.
Sher Singh Restorer Legal Branch, Duleep Singh Restorer E-governance branch, Arvinder Singh Peon Legal Branch, Harpreet Singh Peon Establishment Barnch, Charanjit Singh Peon Planning Branch, Rampal Peon SDI Branch, Gang Ram Driver Personal Staff / DD Admin, Tejinder Singh driver Personal Staff / ADIT, Nanak Chand Safai Sevak Accounts, Branch -2, and Suraj Singh Chowkidar Accounts Branch-1.
Apart from this, officers and employees of the Punjab State Technical Education and Industrial Training Board who were found absent were Sangeeta Goel ITI Section, Romi Singh ITI Section, Pankaj Goyal Computer Section, Gurnit Kaur Computer Section, Daljit Kumar Computer Section, Bhupinder Singh Computer Section, Manpreet Singh Academic Section and Raj Kumar Peon administrative section.
