As per the police, the victim, Neetu, committed suicide as she was being harrassed by her husband and in-laws for dowry since her marriage. The police have booked the victims’husband, Ankesh in this connection. On the other side, the victim’s father, Amarpal Singh alleged that her daughter was murdered by the family and after that she was hanged with the fan ceiling to show it as a suicide. Amarpal Singh said in his complaint to the police that Neetu was married in March 2015 and her husband, Ankesh along with his family was exploiting her since then and also harrasing him (Amarpal Singh) for dowry and money. She also have one-year-old baby boy. The complainant said that his daughter had returned to his house three times due to the exploitation for dowry by her in-laws, but each time Ankesh took her back with him after feeling sorry from him. “We had spent enough money on Neetu’s marriage and on the birth of her son. Still, they kept harrasing us for the dowry. We were very depressed due to their behaviour. I think her husband was planning to kill her from last couple of days following which he along with his family hatched the conspiracy of suicide. I am sure she was murdered. The police have not done anything yet. They also teared the first written statement of mine by saying that it was wrong. Today I again recorded the statement. The post mortem report shows that Neetu’s tongue did not came out after her death, which usually not happens in the case of suicide. Secondly, her foot was touching the floor when she was found hanging, “said Amarpal Singh. The vicitm found dead in her house last morning following which the police reached the spot and recovered the dead body. No suicide note was recovered. The post mortem of the victim was conducted and her body was handed over to his father, who performed the last rites of his daughter today. However, SHO Daljeet Singh and the investigation officer did not respond to the calls despite several attempts. A case has been registered against the victim’s husband under Section 304-B of the IPC at the Sohana police station.
