Enforcement Director (Mining) meets senior officials to discuss strategies

The newly appointed Enforcement Director Mining, Punjab Sh. R.N Dhoke, IPS convened a meeting today with the officials related to the control and regulation of mining operations in the district SAS Nagar. Those present in the meeting included Sh. Satinder Singh PPS, SSP SAS Nagar, Dr. Ravjot Grewal SP (Rural ) SAS Nagar and Sh.Rupinder Singh Pabbla XEN cum District Mining Officer, SAS Nagar. The DSPs and SHOs of the areas where mining operations are carried out in the district were also present in the meeting. Various issues related to the mining operations in the district were discussed in the meeting. Some of these included the interstate mining operations across the district and methods of controlling them, the ways of enforcing the desilting operations in the district, use of display boards in the notified Mining, Desilting, and Sand/Gravel Crusher Areas and the regulation of timing of various mining Operations. Clear instructions were issued by the Enforcement Director Mining, Punjab that all operations related to mining should be carried out in a manner predetermined by law. Any complaint related to mining should be immediately dealt with according to the laid down procedure and strict action may be taken against violators. The Enforcement Director Mining, Punjab reemphasized the commitment of the Punjab Government to ensure that all mining operations are carried out keeping in mind the balance between Environmental Protection, Revenue Generation, and enforcement of Rule of law. Review of enforcement of these operations will be done periodically.
