Fake T20 league: Kingpin bookie Dandiwal along other sent to judicial custody

Nabaz-e-Punjab, Mohali, July 17:
Ravinder Dandiwal, the kingpin in a fake T20 scandal that surfaced recently, and Durgesh, another suspect, were today produced before a local court in Kharar which sent them to judicial custody in Ludhiana jail.
Dandiwal was in police custody since his arrest on July 6 while Durgesh was arrested by the police from his house in Aterna village in Sonepat, Haryana on July 10.
Mohali Superintendent of Police (rural) Ravjot Kaur Grewal said, “We have recovered the high resolution cameras from Durgesh’s acquaintances. The statements of 22 players, who took played the matches, will be recorded soon as they are identified.”
Inspector Sukhveer Singh said, “The cameras were recovered from a Faridkot man. It was discovered that Durgesh had purchased the cameras from a Hisar based company ‘CWD’, from where the cameras were taken by a Faridkot man. Some more equipments will also be recovered soon.”
The fake T20 tournament, called the UVA T20 League, was held in Sawara village near here but it was claimed that it was being played in Badulla in Sri Lanka. It was telecast live on various websites and social media apps — such as Fancode, Diamond, Sky, Lotus, Tenbet, Spin and Punjab Exchange — for the purpose of earning money through illegal betting.
