Nabaz-e-Punjab, Mohali, July 13:
Mohali police have started identifying each and every person, who was involved directly or indirectly involved in organising the so called ‘UVA T20 league’.
Mohali SP (rural), Ravjot Kaur Grewal said, “Through the interrogation of Dandiwal and Durgesh, we are trying to identify all the persons who were the part of this scandal.”
She added, “We have recovered players’ jerseys from the accused, Durgesh. The hi-tech cameras used by him will be recovered soon. We came to know there were total 22 players comprising two teams who were hired by Dandiwal by luring them of money. We are in the process to trace all the players for recording their statements.”
Ravjot Kaur also said that a commentator was also hired by Dandiwal, for playing commentary on online platforms. However, no live commentary was done in the stadium so that the players did not get any clue about the league reality. The commentator is also yet to be arrested by the police.
During the investigation, it was also disclosed by the cricketers that Dandiwal had promised them to give them a chance in international matches. However, during the two matches played on the same day, players neither get any food nor any special treatment following which they had refused to play further, said the SP.
A police officer also said that the organisers had planned to reward Rs 2,000-4,000 to each player for participating while the reward of winning team was fixed at Rs 60,000-70,000.
The police have also recovered the stumps having labels of UVA T20 league, used in the game.
The SP also added that the two teams made by the accused (organisers) were given names as per the trends of Sri Lanka. Secondly, the jerseys were also having labels of Sri Lankan sponsors on them, which were already recovered by the police.
The findings report submitted by the two-member team of BCCI also disclosed that along with applications, the match was also telecast on few websites. The BCCI had also given counseling to the cricketers about the match fixing scandals and they had been warning them to save themselves from bookies like ‘Dandiwal’. Dandiwal was on the radar of BCCI for a long time as he had been into large match-fixing scandals.
Mohali police is also getting more details from the recovered mobile phone and passport of Ravinder Dandiwal.
