This Bridge will connect Khudda Lahora to Karoran link road to Singha Devi Colony/Village over Patiala ki Rao rivulet. Singha Devi is an important village in this area as there is a historical Singha Devi Mandir in the village. Thousands of devotees from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and nearby villages visit this temple throughout the year. The number of devotees increase manifolds during the melas which happen twice a year. Due to unavailability of bridge over Patiala ki Rao rivulet people have to go through the rivulet to go to temple. In fact, the temple cuts offs from main land during rainy season. The construction of the HLB will be highly beneficial to the residents of Naya Gaon, Singha Devi colony and other villages as well as the devotees, said the minister.
Earlier in the day, he laid the foundation stone of construction and strengthening work of 19 km of roads including the special repair /widening and strengthening of Boothgarh to Manakpur Sharif, Haripur Road Length of 11.31 Km falling in the area of Market Committee Kurali to be undertaken at a cost of Rs. 426.00 Lakh, Widening / Strengthening and New Construction of Naya Gaon to Kane ka Bara to Tanda Karoran Pinjore Road under NABARD with an estimate cost of Rs. 240.00 Lakh and new construction of stretch 5 km road from Jainti Majri to Mullanpur Siswan Road with Link to Ferozepur, at a cost of Rs.176.27 Lakh.
He informed that arrangements have been made to make the road from village Boothgarh to Haripur an “All Weather Road”. This road connects MDR-31 with ODR-14 which serves as the shortest route from Chandigarh to Ropar. Due to which heavy traffic passes over this road. So, widening and strengthening of this road will be immensely beneficial.
Village Jainti Majri is an important village in this area as there is a historical Jainti Mata Mandir in the village. Thousands of devotees from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and nearby villages visit this temple throughout the year. The new construction of stretch of road from Jainti Majri to Mullanpur Siswan Road with Link to Ferozepur will decrease the their travelling distance by about 3 Kms. There are fields around this kutcha path and the farmers working in these fields will immensely benefit by construction of this road as they can carry their produce to Kurali and Chandigarh through this proposed road. Presently there is no metalled road linking Ferozepur village to Jainti Majri village. The construction of this link will benefit the inhabitants of both these villages as there travelling time and distance to each other will be considerably reduced, informed the Member Parliament.
