Four held on a charge of illegal mining

Majri Block police today have arrested three persons among nine booked, who were allegedly involved in illegal mining in Abhipur village here. The police have also seized a illegal crusher, a JCB machine, a Sonalika tractor, a Hyundai Verna and a water tanker from the spot after conducting a special raid there on the instructions of SSP Satinder Singh, SP (rural) Ravjot Grewal and DSP Mullanpur, Bikramjit Singh Brar.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Surjit Singh and Randhir Singh, both residents of Ferozepur, Raminder Singh, driver and Balwant Singh, a resident of Tarn Taran.
As per the police, the suspects were nabbed from the village site where they were carrying out illegal mining through their crushers.
The suspects, who are at large, have been identified as Mukhpal Singh, Surinder Pal Singh Gill, Lakwinder Singh, all residents of Taran Taran, Lakhvir Singh, a resident of Ferozepur and Karam Chand, owner of crusher and resident of Ropar.
All four arrested suspects will be produced in the court on Saturday, said the police. A case under Sections 379 (theft) of the IPC and under 21 of the Mine and Minerals (Regulations and Development) Act have been registered against the suspects in this regard.
