National Award winning author embarrassed by police officer’s fraud marriage and rape

A National Award winning writer from Kharar has accused the Inspector of Punjab Police (Police Station Chief) of forcibly marrying her and then having sexual relations with her. According to the writer, Gurmit Singh, currently posted at Police station of Shambhu (District Patiala), violated the etiquette of a religious place while marrying her, by forging fake mother and brother. Gurmeet Singh who is already a father to one daughter has gotten married twice, one of whom is living abroad while the other is divorced. While posing further allegations, the writer also stated that she found Gurmit Singh on a matrimonial site ‘Sangham.com’ and already pre informed Gurmit Singh that a case of mutual divorce was pending in her court, the last date of which was March 24, 2020. Gurmeet Singh told her that he too was divorced and had a daughter but he gave no information about his second marriage. According to the author, her first meeting with Gurmit Singh was on February 15, 2020 in Phase 6 here. Gurmeet Singh was informed by the author’s family that their daughter’s mutual divorce case was pending in the Kharar court, which had a deadline of March 24, 2020. Gurmeet Singh told the family members hat her divorce case was pending by ‘mutual consent’ and he wanted to get married before March 24 as there would be ‘no legal hurdle’. According to the author, Inspector Gurmeet Singh married her on 23rd February 2020 at Gurdwara Amb Sahib Phase-8, Mohali in accordance to Puran Gur Maryada. Meanwhile, Inspector Gurmit Singh, who was in the Gurdwara Sahib accompanied his mother and brother, which were forged by him and were not his real brother and mother. The author came to know about this when Inspector Gurmeet Singh left after beating her badly on July 9, 2020 and never returned home. When the writer called Gurmit Singh, he answered the calls very abruptly and stated sentences like : “you don’t know me, I have done this with many women like you and there is no need to follow me from today onwards.” He threatened that he was a police officer and could do anything to her. “What proof do you have that I am your husband?” He kept asking and threatening the writer. According to the author, when she went to Gurdwara Amb Sahib to get the marriage certificate, the manager of Gurdwara Sahib said that Inspector Gurmeet Singh had not given them the required documents regarding the marriage certificate, due to which they could not issue the marriage certificate. According to the author, Inspector Gurmeet Singh got his first marriage with Narpindrapal Kaur, a resident of Gurdaspur and the woman with whom he got his second marriage is said to be living in Australia at present. According to the author, she has chats of Gurmit Singh with other women and girls on Facebook which were done solely by him. The main interest of his chats were tricking and luring the girls and women to marry him. The writer, through her lawyer Lalit Sood, have lodged a written complaint against Inspector Gurmeet Singh with IG Ropar Rez seeking registration of a case of fraud and rape against him. The author has also sent a copy of the complaint to the Punjab Chief Minister, Principal Secretary Home), Principal Secretary (Personnel) and Punjab Women’s Commission. The IG has handed over the investigation of the complaint to a female IPS officer from Mohali.
Shambhu police station SHO Inspector Gurmeet Singh termed the allegations as fabricated and fabricated and said that Preet Arora was blackmailing him. He said the woman was married to her first husband without divorcing him and after the marriage she also took gold jewelery with her. Regarding the fake relatives, the cop clarified that his parents were against inter-caste marriage, which led to the recourse of friend about which the woman was well aware. Gurmeet Singh alleged that he had cheated on the contrary because the complainant had declared himself divorced and got married to him. He said that he has also filed a case against Preet Arora in Mohali court.
