Mohali. Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu today inaugurated the new Bill Collection Center at Jal Ghar, Sector 69, Mohali. Environment Day was also observed on the occasion and Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu and Mohali Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu also planted a sapling here.
It may be recalled that water supply in Sector 66-69 and Sector 76-80 was earlier done by GMADA which has now been taken over by the Municipal Corporation. The bill collection center has been opened at Sector 69 to facilitate the residents of these new sectors to pay their water bills.

Speaking on the occasion Health Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu said that this Jal Ghar was taken over from GMADA and Rs. 41 lakh has been spent on its renovation in view of its dilapidated condition. He said that this Jal Ghar collects 11 lakh gallons of water from 14 tubewells which is supplied at full pressure. He said that soon these new sectors would be connected with the canal water supply from Kajoli so that there would be no shortage of drinking water supply for the people of this area. He said that he was committed to the development of Mohali and the development work would continue in the same manner.
The Health Minister also said that the Congress government of Punjab had given a big relief to the residents of these new sectors of Mohali. He said that GMADA was charging almost five times more water rate from the residents of these sectors than the rest of Mohali whereas now this work has come under the purview of Municipal Corporation and the rate of water has become equal in all sectors.
Speaking on the occasion Mohali Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu said that Mohali Municipal Corporation would plant 500 saplings at various places in Mohali to celebrate Environment Day. On the occasion, the mayor also distributed packets of organic fertilizer prepared from kitchen waste to the attendees.
Speaking on the occasion Mayor Jeeti Sidhu said that in Mohali the garbage collectors segregate the garbage at source and put the kitchen waste in specially constructed pits in different areas of Mohali where organic manure is prepared from this kitchen waste.

Senior Deputy Mayor Amrik Singh Somal, Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi, Commissioner Kamal Garg, SE Sanjay Kanwar, Dr. Tamanna Health Officer, Vineet Malik MC, Kamaljit Binhi MC, Kulwinder Singh, Rajesh Rathore, Cheri Sidhu, Principal Gurmukh Singh and others were present on the occasion.
