Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Coronavirus : Health officials raid lab in Chajjumajra, owner arrested, lab sealed The lab claimed to have Coronavirus test facility Nabaz-e-Punjab Bureau, Mohali, March 21 : Acting on a complaint, the district health department with the help of local police raided laboratory in a market at Chhajumajra in Kharar, which claimed to have Coronavirus test facility. The health department has sealed the lab premises and the police have arrested the lab owner. Civil Surgeon Dr Manjit Singh said that after receiving a complaint, he formed a team comprising of Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr Kuldeep Singh and District Health Officer Dr Subhash Sharma which conducted surprise checking at Vivek Charkravarty Path lab today evening at Chhajumajra in Kharar and found that the owner of the lab had pasted posters at the lab claiming to have Coronavirus test facility. On questioning, the owner told that he had applied for the approval for the same with the competent authority. The civil surgeon said that under the norms, no private individual, lab or hospital can conduct testing for the deadly virus till now. The authorization for the same is given by the government of India. He further said that in our region, PGI Chandigarh is the only nodal lab for the Coronavirus testing. He added that the lab was offering the test facility for four thousand rupees. Assistant Sub inspector Ajay Kumar who led the police team, said that a case has been registered against the accused under due sections for misguiding and committing fraud with the public.
