The police also recovered a printer/scanner, two scales, two cutters, chemical and a plastic tray, used by the suspects in the scam. The suspects have been identified as Jagtar Singh Taari, his wife, Parvati Devi alias Bholi, both residents of Sirhind, Jaspreet Singh alias Jassi, a resident of Ludhiana and Kamlesh Sharma alias Aantra Kalia, a resident of Sirhind. The suspects were allegedly duping a large number of persons through this scam. They used to print the notes through the printers and were circulating the money in the area. SP (rural) Ravjot Kaur Grewal informed that the prime suspects, Taari and Bholi were nabbed by the team of Kharar police on Tuesday from Daunmajra village here following a tip-off. The police had recovered fake currency notes worth Rs 6.26 lakh from their possession. The couple was running the scam from last couple of years and several cases were already registered against them at the various police stations in the same connection in the past, said the police. The couple was produced in a local court which sent them to five-day police remand. During their interrogation, it came to fore that more persons were also active in the scam following which the police arrested Jassi and Aantra Kalia. Jassi was nabbed by the cops on Wednesday from Santemajra village on Landran-Kharar road and a recovery of Rs 1.56 lakh (fake currency) along with the printer was done by the police. After that Aantra Kalia was arrested today by the Kharar police team led by Inspector Sukhveer Singh from her residence in Sirhind. The cops recovered fake currency notes worth Rs 1.36 lakh from her possession, said Ravjot Kaur Grewal. Jassi was sent to four-day police remand by the local court today and Aantra Kalia will be produced in the court tomorrow, said the police. Kharar DSP Pal Singh said, “The suspects used to lure people by offering them more amount of money against lesser amount. Like, they used to offer Rs 2000 note against Rs 1000. Mostly, they used to give the fake notes during the night time to avoid risks. We have started the investigation and some more persons,active in the scam, might be arrested soon through their interrogation.” A case has been registered against the suspects under Sections 489-B and 489-C of the IPC at the Sadar Kharar police station.
