Symbolic hunger strike continues into 7th day, demands not yet met by Govt: Kainth

Employee organizations support the protest at Sector 25, Rally Ground

Employee organizations that work for the welfare and protection of rights of the Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Castes employees today supported the protest Dharna and Symbolic hunger strike at 25 Sector, Rally Ground, Chandigarh. SC-BC Employees and Lok Ekta Front Punjab and SC/BC Employees Welfare Federation (PSPCL/PSTCL) Punjab were amongst the organizations which came to the call of the National Scheduled Castes Alliance which along with other fraternal organizations have organized the protest mainly against the Post Matric Scholarship scam in Punjab.
Paramjit Singh Kainth, President, National Scheduled Castes Alliance said, “Our demand is simple, we want the admission of 3 lakh students who have been rejected by the educational institutions and issuing of degrees/certificates of almost 7 lakh students in the past 3 years. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, the minister accused of Rs. 63 crore corruption scandal be investigated by the CBI and till the time remain suspended from the Cabinet Ministry. We urge the State government led by Cap Amrinder to not ruin the future generation of Scheduled Castes community and mend its mistakes by meeting our demands.”
Avtar Singh Kainth, president of SC/BC Employees Welfare Federation (PSPCL/PSTCL) Punjab present at the protest said, “We support the demands of the NSCA and our organizations wholeheartedly supports this cause for our community. The SC community has suffered immensely due to atrocities and other issues that have largely been ignored by the State government. This time we won’t allow them to ruin our student’s future.”
Kainth further said, “We are sitting day and night here at Rally Ground, Sector 25 and this is our 7th day of protest. The State government as expected has not heeded our demands and has largely ignored the plight of the community. The cases of atrocities have not been investigated and the victims of hate crimes are suffering due to the laxity of this government which shields and protects criminals.”
“The protest will not be stopped until all our demands are met and with the support of other organizations our cause will only intensify with time.” echoed the organizations.

Paviter Singh Naulakha, Pal Singh, Arun Kumar, Narinder Singh, Krishan Singh Jassal, Dalip Singh Buchra, Suresh Kumar Banarasi, Rajwinder Gaddu, Subedar Amarjit Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Gursewak Singh Mainmajri, etc.
