KEJRIWAL’S CORRUPT FACE TOTALLY EXPOSED, SAYS PUNJAB CM

CALLS FOR CBI PROBE, URGES DELHI LG TO INITIATE ACTION AGAINST AAP GOVT

Nabaz-e-Punjab Bureau, Tarn Taran, May 7:
Lending his voice to the vociferous demand for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation, Captain Amarinder Singh on Sunday said the AAP leader’s corrupt face had been totally exposed and he had no moral right to continue in office.
Talking to mediapersons here, the Punjab Chief Minister said the Congress in Punjab had for long been maintaining that Kejriwal was a dacoit, who was only interested in filling his own pockets. Given the seriousness of the allegations being made against him and his party for the past several months, Kejriwal should have resigned a long time ago, said Captain Amarinder, adding that shameless as he was, the AAP leader will not quit even now.
In a statement, the Chief Minister, who was here to share his condolences with the family of Shaheed JCO Paramjeet Singh, later demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and action against Kejriwal under the anti-corruption laws.
Kejriwal had lost all credibility and his party was in the midst of an identity crisis, with no semblance of governance left in Delhi, said the Punjab Chief Minister, adding that AAP should make way for fresh elections in the national capital, which deserved honest and clean governance.
He urged the Delhi Lieutenant Governor to initiate the necessary action against Kejriwal and his government to free the people of the city from their misgovernance.
For Kejriwal, who swept to power the Delhi polls two years ago on the anti-corruption plank, this was a moment of truth which he could no longer sweep under the carpet, said Captain Amarinder, adding that the AAP leader should quit as Delhi Chief Minister immediately, before the people of Delhi also throw him out like the people of Punjab did just two months ago.
Kejriwal is at the centre of a political storm following allegations of corruption made against him by ex-Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra. Mishra has claimed that he had personally seen Kejriwal take Rs. 2 crore in bribe from Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain.
Reacting to the development, Captain Amarinder said the mask was finally and completely off the face of Kejriwal, whose tryst with corruption had started coming to the fore during the Punjab assembly elections earlier this year. With Kejriwal’s own senior party colleague now making an unequivocal statement of having been witness to his corruption, the AAP leader had lost all moral ground to continue in office, said the Punjab Chief Minister.
Captain Amarinder said the recent developments in Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which is in the midst of a major political turmoil following internal dissidence and widespread allegations of corruption against various party leaders, endorsed his stand that it was a party of liars and cheats with no morality or integrity.
The people of Punjab had seen through the lies of Kejriwal and his party colleagues during their election campaign in the state and had judiciously kept them out of power, said the Punjab Chief Minister, adding that AAP’s shameful lack of morality had been exposed time and again by the party’s own leaders and workers in recent months.
Hardly any AAP leader was seen to pass the 3C yardstick of corruption, criminal record and character which the party had set as a benchmark, Captain Amarinder pointed out, adding that Kejriwal, who had been taking a high moral ground against political parties and leaders of all hues, had touched the nadir of his political career with the bribe expose’.
