Low-key celebration in Punjab on 74th I-Day amid Covid-19

The state-level Independence Day function witnessed low-key celebration today amid Covid-19 pandemic. The function was held at Major Harminder Pal Singh Memorial college in Phase 6, Mohali and was lasted for note more than 40 minutes.
Captain Amarinder Singh reached the stage and performed the flag hoisting ceremony at 8.58 am. Followed by the national anthem, the Chief minister started his speech, which was ended at 9.35 am.
Unlike previous I-Day celebrations, no activities were performed by army, policemen or general public. Also, no presentation depicting the achievements, was played during the occasion by any of the department.
Through his speech, Captain Amarinder appealed to the people to continue to extend their wholehearted cooperation to his government to fight the crisis. He urged them to take special care of elderly, while ensuring strict adherence to wearing of masks and other protocols, including avoidance of large gatherings and frequent washing of hands. Get yourselves tested the moment you see any symptoms, he appealed to the people, adding that early testing was the first step towards defeating the disease and winning the war.
During the ocassion, Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Girish Dayalan, Additional Deputy commissioner (ADC) Ashika Jain, Civil Surgeon Dr Manjit Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Jagdeep Saigal, Media advisor to CM, Raveen Thukral and Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kuldeep Singh Chahal, were also present.
