Manpreet Badal lashes out at Kejriwal for questioning Capt Amarinder’s integrity

Senior Punjab Congress leader Manpreet Badal on Saturday lashed out at Arvind Kejriwal for questioning the credibility of Captain Amarinder Singh, saying as a rank outsider with no knowledge or understanding of Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader had absolutely no right to challenge the Punjab Congress president’s integrity.

Captain Amarinder is the son of Punjab who has made many sacrifices for the state, which Kejriwal clearly seems unaware of, said Badal, castigating the AAP national convenor for the personal attack launched on the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president in a desperate bid to befool the people of the state.
Pointing out that Captain Amarinder had always led from the front when it came to securing the interests of Punjab and its people, Manpreet Badal said he had courageously faced the bullets in the Khemkaran sector to protect the people of Punjab, and in fact the nation, whereas Kejriwal had always run away, every time his people needed his support.
Kejriwal is obviously completely ignorant of the multitude of sacrifices made by Captain Amarinder, who resigned from the Army on June 25, 1965, to take over the management of his family estate after his father was posted outside India, and then just a few days later took back his resignation to fight for the country when the war with Pakistan broke out, said Badal.

Whether it was his resignation from the Congress and the Parliament following Operation Blue Star, or his tough stance on the SYL issue, the former Punjab chief minister has always taken a principled stand for the state, unlike Kejriwal who has repeatedly failed the people of Punjab on critical issues, Badal pointed out. Kejriwal’s track record in Delhi is a precursor to his plans for Punjab, Badal added.
Cornering Kejriwal over his personal attack on Captain Amarinder, Badal nailed his lies by pointing out that the PPCC chief had not been taking alcohol for the past three years. The AAP leader, said Badal, was simply trying to befool the people by making such baseless and unfounded allegations.
Badal further said the people of Punjab were fully aware of Captain Amarinder’s selfless love for them and would not be misled by the ranting of a mad man, whose only agenda was to seize power in the state by hook or by crook, in order to realize his personal ambitions.

Badal also came down heavily on the AAP candidate from Majithia, Himmat Singh Shergill, saying he should be ashamed of allowing Kejriwal to make such false and baseless allegations against Captain Amarinder in his presence. Captain Amarinder had helped Shergill and his family in their hour of personal crisis, which he seemed to have conveniently forgotten after joining AAP, said Badal, adding that the people of Punjab would give them all a befitting reply in the coming Assembly elections.
