The police also recovered various stolen grocery items and banned drugs costing around Rs 50 lakh from their possession. Two vehicles have also been recovered from the possession of the suspects. The suspects have been identified as Jasveer Singh and his son Sahil, both residents of Jandoli village near Rajpura, Sulabh Kalra and his brother Sahil Kalra, Munish Kumar, Naresh Kumar, all residents of Rajpura, Isoo and Sahib Singh, both residents of Kharar and Sanyam, a resident of Patiala. Today, Superintendent of Police (city) Harvinder Singh Virk, DSP (city 1) Gursher Singh Sandhu and Station House Officer of Mataur police station, Inspector Ashok Kumar informed during a press conference that the suspects used to conduct thefts at the godowns of departmental stores during night by breaking the walls of the godowns from backside after recce the areas. SP (city) said, “Out of nine suspects, three were the shopkeepers, who used to buy the stolen items from them. The suspects also stolen four Mahindra pickup out of which one has been recovered. The S-Cross car used by them to recce the areas of godowns has also been recovered. They were having their own godown in Rajpura, where they used to dump the stolen items. Further investigation is on and the accomplices of the suspects will be nabbed soon.” 40 boxes of MDH spices, 60 boxes of Santoor soap, 107 packets of tea, 90 boxes of refined oil, nine boxes of batteries, 10 boxes of multivitamin medicines and 930 intoxicated tablets have been recovered by the police in this connection. Mohali police today handed over the stolen items to the owners of godowns in Mataur police station. Four suspects have criminal background and their interrogation is on. Sahil was a student of hotel management, Manish was pursuing D pharmacy, Jasveer and Isoo are illiterate while the rest persons are class 12th passouts. They were sent to five-day police remand by the court till Friday, said the SP. A case has been registered against the suspects under Sections 457, 380, 411 of the IPC and 21 of the NDPS Act at the Mataur police station.
