Migrant laborer murder: Suspect on a two-day remand

The three suspects including two juveniles, arrested for murdering a 18-year-old migrant laborer in Nayagaon village on Diwali evening,were produced before the Kharar court today. The court has sent the major suspect, Basu, to two-day police remand while both the juvenile boys were sent to juvenile home in Hoshiarpur.
The suspects had killed Rajveer, a resident of Ganganagar in Rajasthan, by attacking him with a wooden log on his head on Diwali evening in Dashmesh Nagar, Nayagaon following heated arguments.
According to the police, Rajveer had a old rivalry with one of the suspects and last evening when the victim was returning his house after finishing his work around 7 pm yesterday, he met the suspect following which they had heated arguments. Later the suspect, called Basu and the other juvenile boy in Dashmesh Nagar where the incident was occurred. The trio then started assaulting the victim and in the meantime, Basu attacked Rajveer with a heavy wooden log on his head. The trio then fled from the spot. Rajveer was shifted to PGI, Chandigarh where he succumbed to his head injuries this morning.
Nayagaon Station House Officer, Sub Inspector Jagjeet Singh said, “We will interrogate Basu for more details. The juveniles would be taken to juvenile home in Hoshiarpur on Tuesday as their covid-19 reports are yet to come. The post mortem of the victim was conducted today and the body was handed over to his family.” A case of murder was registered in this regard at the Nayagaon police station.
