Mohali CIA nailed five hardcore thieves of a gang

The crime investigation agency (CIA) of Mohali police arrested five members of a gang, involved in various thefts in the Mohali area. The police also recovered three motorcycles; a .315 bore revolver along with two cartridges, and some other deadly weapons from the arrested persons’ possession. The suspects have been identified as Rakesh Giri, resident of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, Shahrukh Khan, and Sohail, both residents of Sambal in Uttar Pradesh, Chandu resident of Muradpur in Uttar Pradesh; and Nanu, resident of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. The suspects are natives of Uttar Pradesh and were currently putting up in Tricity. They are aged between 20-24 years, said the police. Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Satinder Singh informed that the suspects were involved in many snatching and theft cases. Their gang was highly active in the areas of Kharar and Mohali. They had snatched many motorbikes and illegal weapons. This gang used to target newly developed colonies in Mohali during the wee hours. They used to target local laborers and commuters for snatching money and mobile phones by using their weapons.

The suspects were arrested by the CIA team led by SI Harjinder Singh on Monday from an under-construction roadside near Jandpur village when they were planning to execute a dacoity in the local area. During the interrogation of the suspects, it was discovered by the police that this gang has committed around 80 crimes in Sunny Enclave, Kharar area, and around 90 in the Zirakpur area during the past three years. The recovery of snatched items is underway by the police. A case has been registered under Sections 399, 402, 379, 379B of the IPC and 25-54-59 of the Arms Act at the Kharar police station. The suspects are currently in police custody, said the police.
