Motivation for Sikh diaspora: Promote Gatka training among children: Phool Raj Singh

Mohali, December 13:
Gatka players from Dashmesh Gurmat Vidyalaya in Tarnet, Melbourne, Australia, presented an impressive showcase of Sikh ‘Shastar Vidya’ (Martial Art) and Gatka soti game at Gurdwara Dashmesh Darbar, Tarnet, Melbourne, supervised by Dr. Shubhakaran Singh, the International Gatka Coach and Director of the Coaching Directorate of the National Gatka Association of India. Members of the Gatka Council of Australia also graced the occasion.
On the occasion Phool Raj Singh, Chairman of the International Affairs Directorate of the National Gatka Association, a known social worker from Punjab and recipient of the State Award, addressed the audience. He emphasized that Gatka, an intrinsic part of Sikh heritage, should be actively promoted among Sikh communities worldwide. He stressed the importance of popularizing this martial art globally and highlighted ongoing efforts led by Harjeet Singh Grewal, President of the World Gatka Federation, and Dr. Deep Singh, the General Secretary, to establish Gatka as a recognized sport on the world stage.

Former councilor of Mohali Municipal Corporation Phool Raj Singh further elaborated on plans to establish Gatka associations in all states to foster and promote the game in Australia.

Among others present at the event included Gatka Council of Australia, president Harjit Singh, Secretary Pritam Singh, Vice President Amritpal Singh, Treasurer Gursharan Singh, spokespersons Manpreet Singh and Jagjit Singh, advisors Dr. Bhupinderpal Singh Miri Piri, Harnam Singh, Amanjot Singh, as well as Harman Deep Singh and Raja Gurbir Singh.
