Non-plying of Passenger trains cause distress to outstationed people

Union government should consider this issue on humanitarian grounds-Kuljit Singh Bedi

Nabaz-e-Punjab Bureau, SAS Nagar, November 7:
Non-plying of Passenger trains is the cause of acute distress to outstationed people who want to go home to meet their families on Diwali, said Kuljit Singh Bedi former MC, Mohali.
The fast developing IT city Mohali houses hundreds of technicians that have come to the city to work in different companies; number of people from other states working in Tricity, live in suburbs of SAS Nagar. All are stuck up in their rented outlets, away from home due to Centre government’s decision to suspend train movement, said he.
The agony of families of army personnel who save their vacations year long so as to come and meet their families during Diwali knows no bounds. “How can government be so insensitive to the feelings of so many people ?”, questions Bedi. Union government should consider this issue on humanitarian grounds as their children are serving the country, he asserted.
“We are medical graduates pursuing internship at Government Hospital Chandigarh; we are putting up in Zirakpur. We could not go home earlier in the year due to being deployed in COVID related duties; we have been looking forward to meet our families on Diwali. But, despite giving are best in the pandemic our needs come under the radar of none,” rue Akshay, Annapurna, Karanbir and Jaskiran belonging to UP, Maharashtra and Chattisgarh . Our families have been waiting for us for last nine months, delay of even a single day is unbearable for all of us,” they said.
Similar are the woes of thousands of outstationed people in the district, said Bedi and reiterated that train service be resumed at the earliest.
