One-sided love: Young man brutally murdered an old man, case registered

Nabab-e-Punjab, Mohali, 5 March:
A 62-year-old man in Mauli village was beaten to death in his home when he objected to his neighbor’s advances toward his 19-year-old relative.
At 5 am today, the suspect, Gurpratap Singh, 22, scaled the wall to enter the house of the victim, Jagtar Singh, but when confronted, he punched the victim several times in his chest and pushed him violently due which hit a tubewell motor and died at the spot. The deceased’s two sons and other relatives nabbed the suspect and the village sarpanch handed him over to the police.
The deceased’s family said that the youth had been following the girl, a student of class XII, for the past six months and they had brought it to the notice of his family but no action was taken.
A case under section 302 of the IPC has been registered at the Sohana police station. Sohana SHO Gurcharan Singh said, “The arrested youth works at the Passport office in Chandigarh. Police are investigating the matter.”
