Over 4.5 lakh people get vaccine jab in Mohali district: Health Department

COVID vaccination in full swing at 55 government centers of Mohali district: Civil Surgeon

Mohali civil surgeon Dr Adarshpal Kaur claimed that the vaccination campaign against COVID was in full swing in as many as 55 government vaccination centers in the district. Dr. Adarshpal Kaur and acting District Immunization Officer Dr Vikrant Nagra said that at present there was no shortage of anti-Covid vaccine in the district and all eligible beneficiaries should get themselves vaccinated. They said that presently there were 11 permanent and 44 temporary vaccination centers across the district.
Giving details about the location of COVID vaccination centers in the district, the health officials said that permanent vaccination centers are functional at Government College in front of Civil Hospital Mohali, government hospitals in Dera Bassi, Kharar, Gharuan, Kurali, Boothgarh, Dhakoli, Banur, Lalru and at Community Center Phase 7 and Government Senior Secondary School near Civil Hospital, Dera Bassi. Apart from these, temporary vaccination centers have been set up across the district which include Urban Primary Health Center (UPHC) Phase 1, Phase 7, Phase 11, ESI Dispensary Phase 3 Mohali, UPHC Mundi Kharar, Nayagaon, Civil Hospital Kharar old Training Center, UPHC Baltana, Preet Colony Zirakpur and Khizrabad, Palheri, Bahlolpur, Chandon, Barodi, Chatoli, Padiala, Parol and Toga Health Centers in Boothgarh health block.
Dera Bassi block has temporary vaccination centers in Basoli, Pandawala, Amalala, Bhukhri, Dappar, Chhat, Bhabat whereas Gharuan Block has vaccination centres at Batta, Sakrullapur, Badali, Jangori, Garanga, Basian, Sanota, Jhanjeri, Chadiala, Bakarpur, Machli Kalan, Nayagaon, Manoli, Dao Majra, Dao, Mataur, Majat, Landran, Mullanpur.
Dr. Vikrant said that so far a total of 4,51,134 people have been vaccinated in the district out of which 402299 people have been given first dose and 48835 second dose. He said that at present 18 to 44 year age group people, registered industrial workers, construction workers, family members of health care workers and persons suffering from serious illnesses are being vaccinated with the vaccine received from Punjab government. With vaccines received from the Government of India, people over 45 years, health care workers and front line workers are being covered. He said that from June 21, the vaccination would be administered to all persons above the age of 18.
Dr. Vikrant said that even after vaccination, it is important to follow all the necessary instructions like wearing a mask, keeping the necessary distance from each other and washing hands frequently with soap.
