Deputy Commissioner reviews paddy procurement in District Mandis

109855 MT paddy procured, 69% of payment done

Mohali Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan reviewed the ongoing government procurement of paddy in the grain mandis of the district and directed the district managers of the concerned agencies to expedite the lifting of the procured paddy. He said that the instructions of the government should be strictly followed and the facilities for the farmers in the mandis should be given priority.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the officers have been posted to keep a close watch on the procurement, disbursement and payment of paddy and the farmers were being made aware about the moisture content in the paddy. He said that harvesting time has been fixed and SMS system has been made mandatory on each combine. He also appealed to the farmers not to burn the straw.
Disclosing this here today the Deputy Commissioner said that the procurement process of paddy in the grain mandis of the district was going on smoothly and in lieu of procured paddy, payment of Rs.143.42 crore has been made and the progressive/total paddy arrival in the Kharif Marketing season 2020-21 until october 15 is 109983 out of which 109855 MT has been purchased, 87817 MT paddy has been lifted from the Mandis.
