I wonder what is ailing the law & order machinery in the district; beginning from petty crime to heinous one, the crime graph in the District is assuming alarming proportions. People are feeling aghast and unsafe the way criminals are striking at their will. The shocking series of murders in the Patiala town has completely shaken the faith of the common man and the law-abiding citizens. Is it not a harsh reality that nine person have been murdered in the district, ever since the imposition of Curfew and lockdown. People were rather expecting, ‘crime free environment ’ for peaceful living, with much better bounds of governance; with law & order machinery under the direct supervision of the ‘Combatant Soldier Chief Minister’ Capt. Amarinder Singh , but the situation happens to be much worst, under the very nose of ‘always ready to act, combatant Soldier’. Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder owes public explanation; as to why Patiala has become the ‘notorious hub’ for all sorts of crime? There is a general perception among the masses that the ‘Moti Bagh’ is the transitory burial ground for all the crime leads, and also the half-baked police investigations of high profile cases. To mention few, such as spurious milk factory, Devigarh, spurious liquor factory, Rajpura or Hucca Bars and, mega gambling operation that emanates from Rajpura and seizer of illegal chemical and acid factory in Patiala etc. The investigations of such glitzy and scintillating cases are put in the deep freezer of ‘Moti Bagh’ after striking ‘big bargain’, by the agent provocateurs of the ‘Royals’ who are always on the look of such invidious case as ‘Bargain hunters’. That is why the investigation in such infamous cases does not reach to any logical conclusion and the culprits are never brought to tangible justice, despite the general perception, that the SSP Patiala Mr. Mandeep Singh Sidhu and IG Zonal Mr. Jatinder Singh Aulakh, both are men of impeccable integrity. Surprisingly during Curfew and lockdown no surprise checking and sampling of the spurious milk and dairy products was done by the health department in the district, under the lame excuses of being busy in fighting Covid. Unfortunately the police department is engaged in exaggerated theatrical optics, at the cost of their essential duties of watchful surveillance on the incidence of crime and punishment besides vigorously energetic policing as mandated by law. In the light of the above narrative the top brass of the State Police, must do some soul searching; because the nexus of the corrupt politicians, mafias dons and the ‘Maverick Princes of expired Royalty’, currently encouraging all sorts of crime, would manage through their dirty money and may go scot free by manipulating the manipulative and extremely fragile jurisprudence; than ultimately at the end of the day, the men in Khaki uniform, shall have to be accountable to the majesty of the law Bir Devinder Singh Former Deputy Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha And Senior Vice President SAD (Taksali)
