Pet dog bites ear of a young girl in market

In addition to the menace of stray dogs in Mohali, the city residents have also been disturbed by the terror of pet dogs. So far there have been several incidents of stray and pet dog bites have been reported.
Similar kind of incident has been reported this morning today in Phase 9 market here, where a pet dog suddenly attacked a young girl walking on the road and seriously injured her. The pet dog cut off part of the victim’s ear so badly after biting her that it became detached from her ear. The girl was later admitted to a private hospital here by family members.
According to the information, the victim, identified as Harshita, a resident of Phase 9, was walking from her house to a bank located in the market when a car entered the market. One of the women came out of the car with a boxer dog to visit the doctor. Meanwhile, the dog attacked the girl walking there and cut off her ear.
The victim’s father Gurbir Singh informed the police and as soon as the information was received, the PCR vehicle rushed to the spot. The victim’s father sought registration of an FIR against the owner of the pet dog.
The investigating officer said the further action would be taken after the police recorded the statements of both the parties.
“The statement of the victim has been recorded. We will register the case against the dog owner under Section 289 of the IPC,” said Inspector Rajnish Choudhary, SHO (Station House Officer) of Phase 8 police station.
