PSPCL suspends 4 officials for violations of commercial instructions of VDS for AP consumers

As per the zero-tolerance policy of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann against corruption Power minister Punjab Harbhajan Singh ETO, today said that Punjab state power corporation limited has suspended Gurtej Singh AAE, Mehar Chand UDC, Sangeet Sohata LDC, all officials of Bariwala distribution sub division of Shri Muktsar Sahib for gross violations of commercial instructions in regard to the voluntary disclosure scheme for agriculture tubewell consumers and in another case Parneet Kaur junior engineer of Dirba division suspended for the charges of corruption.

The Chief Minister has directed the officers to provide transparent and efficient administration to people. Exhibiting zero-tolerance against corruption, the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has so far in a short span of its tenure arrested 45 government officers/ officials and others on charges of corruption. From day one after assuming charge of his office, the Chief Minister has promised corruption-free, transparent, and clean administration to people for which a number of initiatives have been taken. He had released an anti-corruption helpline number to facilitate people lodging their complaints against corruption through WhatsApp. This helpline has done miracles as people are using it as an effective tool in their war against corruption.

Harbhajan Singh disclosed that PSPCL has received a complaint on Whatsapp, regarding gross violations of commercial instructions in the working of Bariwala distribution sub division of Shri Muktsar Sahib. During the investigation, PSPCL enforcement wing Bathinda has found that officials of bariwala distribution sub division of Shri Muktsar Sahib have been forcing and harassing agriculture tubewell consumers to give test reports for extension of a load of agriculture tubewell connections via private contractors which is a gross violation of commercial instructions of the voluntary disclosure scheme launched for agriculture tubewell consumers.

In another case on the basis of a complaint against Parneet Kaur junior engineer of Dirba by a consumer regarding load extension of an agriculture tubewell connection after inspection on the spot it was found a sum of rupees 3000/- recovered from the pocket of our source driver Pargat Singh.

Punjab state power corporation limited has suspended Parneet Kaur junior engineer with immediate effect.

PSPCL has also withdrawn the outsourcing vehicle contract with Pargat Singh with immediate effect and also wrote to SHO Police station Dirba and deputy superintendent police vigilance Sangrur to register an FIR against Pargat Singh.
