PUCA urged Centre Government to release over 850 Crore under PMS

PUCA delegation met Union Minister, Sh. Vijay Sampla at New Delhi

Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA) has urged Centre Government for the early release of pending 350 Crore meant for the year 2015-16 and over 500 Crore meant for SC students for the year 2016-17 under Post Matric Scholarship Scheme in Punjab.
A delegation of PUCA under the leadership of Dr. Anshu Kataria, President, PUCA and All India Federation of Self Financing Technical Institutions (AIFSFTI) today met with the Union Minister, Sh. Vijay Sampla at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi to follow up the release of pending amount.
Dr. Anshu Kataria highlighted that around 3.15 lac SC students have applied in the year 2015-16 while 3.45 lac SC students have applied for the year 2016-17 under PMS scheme and admissions for the next session i.e 2017-18 are about to start.
Kataria further requested Sampla that as the Hon’ble Supreme Court has fixed 15 August as the last date of admissions in all over the country for technical courses on the same pattern welfare ministry should also fix a cutoff date for applying, sanctioning and releasing the scholarship to avoid delay in the release of the amount.
Kataria further said that in Punjab from last many years the funds for OBC Students have not been paid fully while Himachal Pradesh., Bihar etc are paying full reimbursement of tuition fees to the OBC students and Because of the nonpayment/delayed payments to the colleges, the colleges are in huge financial crisis.
Sampla gave patient hearing to the problems and demands of the Unaided Colleges of Punjab and assured that soon some part of the funds would be released so that students and colleges could make out of the problems from the financial crisis.
On the occasion Ms Aindri Anurag, Joint Secretary; Ms. Dhanpreet Kaur, IPS, Private Secretary; Sh. Kuldeep Bhangewala, General Sercretary, BJP, Kisan Morcha; Mr. Cherry Goyal, Malwa-I Coordinator, PUCA; Mr. Monty Garg, Malwa-II Coordinator, PUCA; Mr. Manav Dhawan, Tricity Coordinator, PUCA; Mr. Lalit Aggarwal, Delhi association from All India Federation of self financed colleges etc were also present.
