ARUNA CHAUDHARY CONGRATULATES WINNING PLAYERS Nabaz-e-Punjab Bureau, Chandigarh, November 26: The players from Punjab have proved their mettle in the field of sports once again. Stamping their class in the Kickboxing event at the 63rd National School Games in Bilaspur (Madhya Pradesh) in U-17 and 19 category, the boys and girls of Punjab have won overall championship. The players from the State bagged a total of 26 medals which included 5 Gold, 9 Silver and 12 Bronze medals. The Education Minister, Punjab, Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary has congratulated the players and credited them apart from the coaches, school staff and the parents for this shining achievement. The minister said that owing to the stupendous efforts of the sports wing the players from the state are making their mark in the sports events consistently. The minister expressed strong hope that in the near future too, the players from Punjab would continue to shine at the National School games. A spokesman of the Education Department while giving more information said that in the U-17 Boys category, Mandeep Singh from Punjab won Gold in 45 KG, Mukesh Kumar in 60 KG, Baldeep Singh in 65 KG, Ranjit Singh in 75 KG and Rajan Chaudhary in 75+ KG category. Divulging more, the spokesman said that in the same age group, Vivek Kumar won Silver in 44 KG, Surjit Kumar in 48 KG, Ajay Kumar in 52 KG and Harpinder Singh in 80 KG, Lovejot Singh in 50 KG and Sanjampreet Singh in 70 KG category and Deepak Kumar bagged Bronze in 56 KG category while Kartik did the same in 60 KG, Akshdeep in 35 KG and Ankit in 55 KG event. Disclosing further, the spokesman said that in the U-19 category (Girls), Sumit Kaur won Silver in 45 KG event while Namirta Khatoon won Bronze in 51 KG with Jyoti Sharma and Hardeep Kaur doing the same in 54 KG and 57 KG events respectively. In the U-17 category, Manjot Kaur bagged Silver in 35 KG event and the Bronze went to Anjali in 45 KG, Rupinder Kaur in 50 KG, Kartika in 55 KG, Preet Kaur in 60 KG and Puneet Kaur Sidhu in 60+ KG events.
