Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said the advisory group will provide inputs and recommendations on various issues related to the higher education sector in the state. It has been mandated to propose a viable framework for the regulation of public and private universities in the State, and has asked to submit its interim report by June 30, 2018 and final report by September 30, 2018, said the spokesperson. The Group has, as its members, eminent sociologist Prof. Dipankar Gupta, Vice Chancellor Ashoka University Prof. Pratap Bhanu Mehta, Former Vice-Chancellor Central University of Punjab Dr. Jai Rup Singh and former officiating Chairman of University Grants Commission Prof. VS Chauhan. Additional Chief Secretary Higher Education would be the ex-officio member convener of the group.
