Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Punjab inks MoU with ‘SEWA Bharat’ for women empowerment Nabaz-e-Punjab Bureau, Chandigarh, August 18: Punjab government today signed Memorandum of Understanding with Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) Bharat to establish a framework for cooperative institutional relations to encourage and promote collaboration for better empowerment and social and economic development of women in the state. MoU was signed and exchanged by Mr. D. S. Mangat, Special Secretary, Department of Planning, Government of Punjab and Ms. Sunanda Dikshit, Coordinator, Punjab Sewa Bharat in the presence of Mr. Karan Avtar Singh, Chief Secretary Punjab, Mr. Anirudh Tewari, Principal Secretary Finance, Mr. Tejvir Singh, Principal Secretary to CM, Ms. Renana Jhabvala, President SEWA Bharat and Ms. Harsharan Kaur, Assitant Coordinator, Punjab Sewa Bharat. Giving a brief introduction regarding Sewa Bharat on this occasion, Ms. Renana Jhabvala said that it is a federation of SEWA organization in India and is committed to empowerment of poor women through a holistic approach. “Its work begins with the needs and capabilities of the women themselves and strives to fulfill the needs which have been identified over the 45 years of SEWA’s existence”, she added. Assuring full support to the SEWA Bharat, the Chief Secretary said that Government of Punjab is committed to the empowerment of women and the development of their families as well as their social and economic development.
