Punjab Vigilance registers case against Mohali lab assistant chemical examiner, analyst for irregularities

Nabaz-e-Punjab Bureau, Chandigarh August 24 :
Punjab Vigilance Bureau today registered a criminal case against an assistant chemical examiner and analyst of State Chemical Laboratory at Kharar, SAS Nagar for committing irregularities in the testing of samples thereby hampering the proceedings of trial courts.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of State Vigilance Bureau informed that Assistant Chemical Examiner Dr Harjinder Singh and Analyst Savina Sharma were affixing codes on samples and issuing the examiner reports after analysis under their own signatures whereas Chief Chemical Examiner of the lab Dr Varindra Singh has to verify and sign these reports.

Pointing out irregularities of both the accused in this case he added that recently 98 liquor bottles of 8 costly brands, amounting to Rs 2 lakh, were confiscated at SAS Nagar and sent to lab for getting its analysis reports. But without any sampling and analysis they forwarded their findings about the liquor and misappropriated the costly bottles.

He further added that a case property forwarded to this lab from Jalandhar was examined by Savina Sharma and its samples were destroyed by both the accused. He said the role of Chief Chemical Examiner would also be explored during further investigations of this case.
